The Bioinformatics Centre of Biotech Park, Lucknow organised a two days workshop entitled “Bioinformatics : In-silico study of DNA & Protein Structure and Function” on 7-8 March, 2008 at Biotech Park, Lucknow and was inaugurated by Dr. R.K. Sharma, Deputy Director, CDRI, Lucknow and interacted with the participants from different institutions like NBRI, ITRC, Integral University, Amity University, Dolphin College of Life Science, Punjab and even candidates from different cities like Mumbai, Delhi, Meerut, Punjab, Varanasi attended the workshop.
Dr. Pragya Gupta, Scientist, Biotech Park welcomed the participants and introduced about the Biotech Park and facilities provided by the Park. Dr. Sharma, in his inaugural remarks highlighted the scope and application of Bioinformatics in Biotechnology and their Industrial development.
The lectures in the workshop delivered by the experts of the world renound institutions like CDRI, IITR, UPCST, UPTU, CSJM and Naini who use bioinformatics in their research. A special lecture on Intellectual Property Rights had also been included the workshop which highlighted major areas like copy right, trade mark and patents.
The theme of workshop was based on analysis of Genomics & Proteomics data, molecular modeling, system biology and micro-array technology of upregulation of genes. At the validictory session Dr. Devendra Parmar, Scientist, IITR, Lucknow discussed the problems faced by the participants in their research and encouraged them to implement Bioinformatics and Bio-medical sciences in-silico technologies in their problem finding solution and concluded the workshop with certificate & programme CD distribution to the participants.
