Dr. K.C. Gupta joins as Director, Indian Institute of Toxicology (IITR), Lucknow |
Dr. K.C. Gupta, Acting Director, Institute of Genomics and Integrative Biology (IGIB), New Delhi has been appointed as Director, Indian Institute of Toxicology Research, Lucknow. He took over the charge on March 27th, 2009. The areas of specialization of Dr. Gupta are "Bioorganic chemistry, nucleic acid synthesis & design". His recent work relates to development of nano-particle aided transfection reagents for delivery of genes and their toxicity assessment and oligonucleotide based biochips as diagnostic tools for detection of genetic diseases. |

Dr. Tushar K. Chakraborty joins as Director, Central Drug Research Institute (CDRI), Lucknow |
Dr. Tushar K. Chakraborty has taken over as the Director, Central Drug Research Institute on December 19th, 2008. His major areas of specialization are Organic synthesis, especially asymmetric synthesis and total synthesis of natural products; Peptides and peptidomimetics; Drug design and Molecular Modeling. He has published over 137 research papers and holds one patent. Dr. Chakraborty is a Fellow of the National Academy of Sciences, India; Indian National Science Academy and Indian Academy of Sciences. He has been awarded with Shanti Swarup Bhatnagar Prize in Chemical Sciences in 2002 and NASI-Reliance Industries Platinum Jubilee Award in Physical Sciences in 2006. |

Prof. Ram Rajasekharan joins as Director, Central Institute of Medicinal and Aromatic Plants (CIMAP), Lucknow |
Prof. Ram Rajasekharan, Professor of Biochemistry at Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore has taken over as Director, CIMAP on April 4th, 2009. The major research interests of Prof. Rajasekharan include lipid metabolism, signal transduction in plants and Bio-pesticides. He has also worked in Biotechnology Division of prestigious Du Pont Company, USA.
Dr. Rajasekharan is a Fellow of National Academy of Agricultural Sciences, India ; Indian Academy of Sciences; National Academy of Sciences, India. He has been awarded with Pro Vice-Chancellor Award for excellence in Research in 2008 by Monash University; NASI-Reliance Industries Platinum Jubilee Award for Application Oriented Innovations in Biological Sciences in 2008 and Sir C. V. Raman State Award in Life Sciences (2004) by the Ministry of Science and Technology, Government of Karnataka, Bangalore, India. |
