Dr. Linda Powers, Managing Director, Toucan Capital, USA along with two of her experts Mr. Sachin Gupta, Business Advisor, Toucan Capital, Mr. Abner Mhashilkar, Science Advisor, Toucan Capital and CEO’s Mr. Alan Smith, President & COO, Cognate Bioservices Inc., Baltimore, MD, USA (a company which specializes in GMP manufacturing of cellular products like stem cell, immune cell for vaccines and primary cells of various kinds), Mr. Alton Boynton, President & CEO, Northwest Biotherapeutics Bothell, WA, USA (a company that makes personalized cancer vaccines) and Dr. Raj Singh, President & CEO, Vivo Biosciences Birmingham, AL, USA (a company developing new human bioassay platforms for preclinical research, drug discovery and therapeutics) visited the Biotech Park on August 17, 2007 to explore the possibility of locating their unit. Dr. Powers had delivered a talk entitled “From the lab bench to the market place to the bank: building successful biotech start – U.P. companies” organized by National Academy of Sciences, Lucknow Chapter and U. P Association for Science & Technology Advancement at CDRI. Several scientists, research scholars and students have attended the lecture.
