A Kissan Mela and exhibition was organized by Agriculture Technology Management Agency (ATMA), Department of Agriculture at Biotech Park campus on 27 th September, 2007. Shri Laxmi Narayan Chaudhary Hon’ble Agriculture Minister, Govt of Uttar Pradesh inaugurating the Mela and exhibition highlighted the needs of the farmer getting together and sharing the resources as the most of the farmers have small land holding. He suggested that farmers should take the advantage of the ATMA Yojna and to join hands with government and utilize the facilities being provided under this program.

Dr. P.K.Seth, C.E.O., Biotech Park welcomed the Guests and farmers and said for higher yields as better quality of agri products. It is essential that use good quality seeds and plants so that per acre produce is higher. Biotechnology has brought revolution in all fields and particularly Agribiotechnology. He urged that farmer to use tissue culture plants and biopesticides, Biofertilisers. The farmers should also explore the possibilities of intercropping their crops with aromatic and medicinal plants. He suggested that state government agriculture farms may also be used for demonstration. The usefulness of Biofertilisers and biopesticides and training of farmers for production of tissue culture banana plants.

The gathering was also addressed by Shri Narendra Singh Kushwaha, Managing Director, U.P. State Agro Industrial Corporation Limited, Shri M.P. Upadhaya, Programme Coordinator, Atma, U.P., Shri P.K.Gupta, Joint Director, Department of Agriculture, Lucknow Division.

Scientists from KVK, various self help groups and officials from various departments participated in the Mela and delivered lectures about modern techniques of farming, soil analysis, seed selection, production insurance and cure of various animal diseases. Mr. Ram, Prasad, Incharge Horticulture, Biotech Park informed the farmers about the cultivation of Jatropha Curcas and tissue culture banana plants in his lecture. More than 200 farmers participated in the Gosthi.
