World’s first human embryonic stem cell “library” is going to be established at Mc Master University in Hamilton. The library will be a database of information about genes. Since the stem cells have potential to turn into any cell in the human body, researchers dream of using them to treat diseases like Parkinson’s, Diabetes etc. They have planned to turn off 26,000 genes inside the cell one by one through high-the and automated techniques and will also document their behaviour for further research.
