Dow’s novel gene technology for GM crops 21/6/2007

A new technology known as Zinc Finger DNA-binding Protein technology has been developed by Dow AgroSciences and Sangamo BioSciences .The two firms basically focused on the development of DNA-binding proteins for gene regulation and modification. The ZFPs are the dominant class of naturally occurring transcription factors which binds with DNA to regulate gene expression and consequently cell function. They say that this is a “development that has a potentially significant impact on the cost and timelines of generating crop products with new and improved traits”.
