Scientist are preparing stem cell trials to help patients suffering with spinal cord injuries. Trial will involve 400 patients in 14 mainland Chinese cities .Stem cell from umbilical cord blood will be injected into spinal cords of patient . Lithium will be given to them which is believed to boost cell regeneration.The procedure should hopefully help patients to grow nerve fibers and “bridges”structure that allow the nerve fibers to reconnect with other parts of spinal cord.
