Bio Asia 2007 took off in Hyderabad with a recap of the strides India has made in the field of biotech. India’s largest biotech groups Biocon, Sri Balaji, Biopharma India Ltd, EPR Pharmaceuticals, Celestial Labs, Rational Labs are all set to start and expand operations in the state of Andhra Pradesh. The government of India is providing huge funds to boost research in biotechnology. India is also emerging as a global pharma destination. As biotechnology in Asia is growing faster these days, the Pacific region recorded 46 percent growth and became the first region to reach aggregate profitability in biotech.
