The Bioinformatics Centre, Biotech City was set up in November 2001, at Industrial Toxicology Research Centre (ITRC), Lucknow as networking site. The major objective of the Bioinformatics Centre is to showcase the R & D and academic strength of the Lucknow in the area of Biotechnology & Bioinformatics and act as nodal point for industry – academia - U.P. Government.
The Centre is extensively involved in popularizing the application of Bioinformatics in R&D by providing training to the Scientists/Research Scholars/ Students.
The Centre is working in close network with the neighboring Academic and R&D institutions to provide information to industries/ entrepreneurs/ farmers regarding technologies, facilities and expertise available with them in the area of Biotechnology.
The Bioinformatics Centre has 1 Mbps Radio link internet connectivity through Software Technology Park of India (STPI), Lucknow.The centre is also providing internet connectivity to Biotech Park and first level of support for desktop and network troubleshooting.
