Mouse DNA to Aid Biomedical Research

Will Help Discover Why Some People Are Susceptible to Certain Diseases

Scientist has sequenced the DNA of 15 most commonly used strains of mouse in biomedical research. The project called “Re-Sequencing and SNP Discovery Project” led by the National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences (NIEHS), part of the National Institutes of Health, and its National Toxicology Program started with a budget of $13 million almost two years ago. These data are useful in finding why some people are more susceptible to some disease than other.
More than 8.3 million SNPs were reported . The information is available at National Center of Biotechnology.
