Sri G.P. Verma, IAS, Principal Secretary, Department of Science and Technology, Government of Uttar Pradesh visited Biotech Park on June 19, 2007. He was accompanied with Dr. A.N. Singh, Director, Remote Sensing Applications Centre, Lucknow. He interacted with the staff and scientists of vermicomposting, biofertilizer, distillation and tissue culture facilities and the Human DNA Bank.
He enquired in detail the various steps in preparation of bacterial biofertilizer, tissue culture banana plants and isolation of DNA and its uses and gave some useful suggestions.
Dr. Seth informed him that setting up of the Biotech Park has generated great awareness about the Biotechnology and interest among the entrepreneurs. He also visited the green house, poly house and the glass house and seen the hardening of the banana
plants and Macropropagation of Jatropha Carcus plants whose seeds are used for obtaining the “biodiesel”. He shown keen interest in the facilities established in the park & appreciated the efforts of Biotech Park for promoting Jatropha plantation for production of Biodiesel and making Lucknow a biotech city.
